Divisional November 8th, 1996 vs. Hopewell-Loudon Madison Ram Field- Mansfield, Ohio Won, 34-14

-Eager to erase the poor taste of an early exit in the school's first tournament appearance, the Flyers jumped on the Chieftans from the outset, building a 21-0 halftime lead. Aaron Kalizewski's 92-yard touchdown pass to Frank Van Dresser seemed to deflate Hopewell going into the break as St. Paul held a 243-40 edge in total offense in the first half and coasted to the win. Dan Pugh scored once in each half and finished with 150 yards. Van Dresser caught four passes for 126 yards and Kalizewski was 9-of-15 passing for 172 yards while Mike Morrow added a touchdown and 93 yards rushing on 19 attempts. It was St. Paul's first ever post-season win.

Regional November 15th, 1996 vs. Monroeville George Daniel Field- Lorain, Ohio Won, 34-8

-In the first-ever post-season meeting between the two rivals, St. Paul capitalized on seven Eagle turnovers and claimed the school's first Regional Championship. Dan Pugh scored to put the Flyers in front in the first, and following an Eagle fumble, he scored on a 16-yard run and the rout was on. The Pugh show continued as he intercepted a pass, then scored again to heighten the roar of Flyer Nation. In a desperate move, Monroeville gambled at midfield on fourth down and was denied. Jay Morrow made it hurt just a bit more by grabbing a 50-yard touchdown catch to make it 34-0 at halftime.

State-Semifinal November 22nd, 1996 vs. Mogadore Finnie Stadium- Berea, Ohio Lost, 26-13

-Revenge was a theme for the Division VI State Semi-Final as the Flyers looked to even the score against the Wildcats. Despite losing all-state running back Chuck Moore to an injury, the Wildcats controlled the second half, breaking a 13-13 first half deadlock. Both St. Paul scores came through the air: a 44-yard touchdown pass to Van Dresser and a 27-yard touchdown pass to Mike Morrow with 38 seconds left in the half. The game turned on a fourth-down play at the Mogadore 12. The Flyers were denied and would only snap the ball seven times the rest of the way as they finished the season 12-1 overall in front of 3,319 fans.
