Wild Card November 1st, 2003 vs. St. Mary's Warren Whitney Field, Norwalk, Ohio Lost, 23-20

-Long-time opening night foes met to open the 2003 Wild Card Playoffs at Warren Whitney Field. St. Paul had rolled over the St. Mary's Panthers to open the season in Norwalk, 23-0. yet from the start, it was clear to all in attendance that this would be quite a different story. The Flyer defense had stymied Spencer Dye and the Panther rushing attack in week one, but the junior star ripped off huge run after huge run in helping build the SMCC lead to 23-14 in the fourth quarter. The Flyers jumped back in it on a Trevor Strohm touchdown pass to Justin Nickoli but the missed extra point put the Flyers down, 23-20. St. Paul would eventually get the ball back with two minutes left, but was met with a fourth-and-15 from its own six-yard line. After several key gains, the Flyers looked as if they'd save their perfect season with the late rally. However, the drive stalled and the Flyers hooked a potential game-tying field goal to the right and the Panthers had pulled the stunning upset.

 - It was St. Paul’s first undefeated regular season since 2000 and fourth under John Livengood. The Flyers finished second in the Division VI AP Poll behind eventual state champion Columbus Grove.

- The Flyers pitched five shutouts on the season – most since 1968 when they also had five.

- Seniors Paul Cannon, Anthony Dellisanti and Allen Rospert were named to the All-Ohio Team.

- The 30-of-47 passing for 372 yards by Trevor Strohm in the Wild Card Playoffs against SMCC are all school records.

- The 71 total points at New London on Oct. 17 are a program best, and the 55 first half points at Mapleton on Sept. 26 ties a program best. (1999 – Plymouth, 1997 – Mapleton).

- A crowd of better than 3,000 saw the Flyers edge the Monroeville Eagles on Sept. 20 at Warren Whitney Field. St. Paul led 27-20 when the Eagles scored on a desperation heave at the buzzer, but the Flyers held on for the win as Monroeville's fake extra point attempt failed.
