Wild Card November 5th, 2005 vs. Mohawk Warren Whitney Field, Norwalk, Ohio Won, 41-7

-After the OHSAA realignment placed the Flyers back in Region 22 for the first time since 1996, St. Paul battled injuries and adversity in the regular season. The Flyers rallied to win out and earn a home Wild Card playoff game with long-time pre-season opponent Mohawk. The Flyers held a 12-7 halftime lead, but started a second-half run which saw them outscore the Warriors 29-0. St. Paul put the game away for all intents and purposes with a 60-yard, third-quarter drive which put the Flyers in control 20-7. St. Paul converted a 4th and six along the way, and junior Joe Stoll plunged in from the four for the score. Stoll finished with 168 yards and three touchdowns, Rob Whitehurst had 111 yards and Gabe Stoll added three touchdowns of his own as the Flyers won their eighth straight game.

Divisional November 12th, 2005 vs. St. Mary's Bellevue Athletic Field, Bellevue, Ohio Won, 23-14

-Eleven weeks after the Flyers beat the Panthers 31-28 on opening night, the two teams met in the post-season for the second time in three seasons at Bellevue Athletic Field. Gabe Stoll's return from an early-season hamstring injury gave the Flyers and their fans quite a lift, and his 20-yard jaunt with 9:09 remaining in the ballgame gave St. Paul a two-possession lead. Stoll sprung free from great interior blocking and a monster pancake from cousin Joe Stoll. Leading 13-7 with just one second to the half, Wes Stein lined up from 28 yards out and banged a key field goal through the uprights to give the Flyers momentum going into the break. Two late interceptions by the Flyer secondary sealed the deal and berth in the Region 22 finals.

Regional November 19th, 2005 vs. Hopewell-Loudon Frost-Kalnow Field, Tiffin, Ohio Lost, 43-14

-Hopewell-Loudon's 20 points in a 1:21 span spelled disaster for St. Paul's back-to-back regional title hopes as the Chieftains took advantage of a miserable Flyer third quarter which saw them commit two lethal turnovers and lose the ball on downs. The game perhaps spiraled out of control for the Flyers in the waning moments of the first half. Leading 6-3 with a half-minute remaining, Joe Stoll had his punt blocked and recovered in the end zone for a Chieftain touchdown. Instead of a halftime lead, St. Paul now trailed 10-6. After rushing for nearly 600 yards combined in the first two tournament games, St. Paul could not get its ground game going and was forced to throw the rest of the way due to the large deficit. The Flyers finished the season at 10-3.

 - St. Paul's 15 graduating seniors finished their careers with a 38-11 mark (24-4 FC), three conference championships, a regional title and runner-up, state runner-up and an overall .775 winning percentage.

- The Flyers won their third consecutive Firelands Conference championship in 2005. It was St. Paul's second outright FC title in the last three seasons.

- The Flyers posted 55 points in a half against Mapleton for the third time in school history on Sept. 23. The feat was also done on Oct. 2 1999 vs. Plymouth.

- Junior Joe Stoll continued his assault on the defensive record books with 170 tackles in 2005. He had four sacks, a pair of fumble recoveries and two interceptions. For his efforts he was recognized as the Division VI Defensive Player of the Year and selected to the All-Ohio 1st Team as a linebacker.

- The Flyers avenged a 2003 post-season loss to Sandusky St. Mary's (23-20) with the second-round win on Nov. 12. It was also the Flyers' second playoff win in Bellevue (17-14, MON, '99). On the flip side, Hopewell-Loudon avenged a 1996 post-season loss to St. Paul (34-14) with the win in the regional finals Nov.19.
